Description

Full time teaching position is available for the 2022-2023 school year for grades 6 - 7.

 

Summary – Under the direction of the building principal, the teacher will plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for all students assigned. 

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned by the curriculum supervisor.   Primary duties include the following:

 

  • Teaches subject area according to curriculum guidelines based on Maryland’s common core standards.
  • Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs.
  • Plans and implements lessons that include all essential components of a good lesson as defined by school district.
  • Incorporates Dimensions of Learning and Maryland Learner Outcomes into daily instruction.
  • Uses a variety of teaching techniques and strategies including differentiation of instruction when appropriate.
  • Uses technology as an integral part of instruction.
  • Ensures that students are physically active and engaged.
  • Collaborates with other faculty in delivery of appropriate instructional approaches.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and maintains order in the classroom or gym in a consistent and fair manner.
  • Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Facilitates in the resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents.
  • Participates in school improvement strategies.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for substitutes and volunteers.
  • Reports student progress objectively and consistently with students and parent using the district electronic student data management program.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and in accordance with the school district policy.
  • Follows county procedures to requisition textbooks and other instructional materials.
  • Establishes relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individuals.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Assists with coaching a sports program if requested.
  • Organizes school sports day activities.

 

 

III.       Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  Must be certified to teach physical education in grades Pre K – 12.  Or, must be certification eligible upon hire.

 

Language Skills

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with students, parents, staff and the community.

 

Mathematical Skills

Basic arithmetic skills are required.

 

Reasoning Ability

Must have creative problem solving skills and abstract reasoning.  Must be able to solve problems with limited data.

 

Computer Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required.  Must be able to open and send emails as a regular mode of correspondence.  Must have data entry skills in order to update information through the use of the student data system.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

 Being in good physical condition in order to demonstrate physical activity to students is preferred.

 

Other Qualifications

Knowledge of rules of the game for most major sports is preferred.
