This is a part time position, contractual position. 

 

Summary

The Early Learning Assistant will work up to 16 hours a week divided between the Princess Anne Elementary and Woodson Elementary Judy Centers to assist with the facilitation of playgroups and curriculum-based home visits. These activities and assignments are supervised by the Judy Center Coordinator at each site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create playgroup lesson plans using the Frog Street Toddler and/or Kindermusik curriculums in compliance with MSDE Judy Center standards.
  • Implement lesson plans include whole group, small group, and free play activities.
  • Maintain a secure and orderly child centered environment in the playgroup setting.
  • Plays a positive role with children encouraging them in their activities and understanding their individualized needs.
  • Prepare for and conduct home visits using the Frog Street Love & Learn and/or Kindermusik curriculums.
  • Build rapport with families in a way that demonstrates empathy, respect, and professionalism.
  • Keep thorough notes and documentation related to home visits.
  • Assist with other tasks as requested by the Judy Center Coordinator.

  • Education and/or Experience

Associates Degree and two years of experience working with young children, additional experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Language Skills

Must have effective written and oral communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents as required.

  • Reasoning Ability

Should be able to use good judgment in working with children and adults to remain calm in pressure situations.

  • Computer Skills

Must be proficient in basic computer usage including email, Microsoft Word, internet search, and any instructional program that students use. Individual should stay up to date with evolving technology as it relates to school programs.

  • Other Skills and Abilities

Individual should be open to suggestions for improvement and willing to put effort and time into developing skills. Good attendance is expected.
